Omega Wrestling League Simulator (OWLS): A Good Omen For Wrestling Sims?

England, December 2011

Omega Labs today announced that they are to develop the next chapter in wrestling simulators: Omega Wrestling League Simulator.
OWLS is the first foray into the wrestling simulator genre for Omega Labs, and will be a text-based promoter/booker wrestling simulator that will build on top of the previous generations of wrestling simulators.

“I wanted to give back to the wrestling simulator community I was once apart of,” said the head of Omega Labs “what once was a thriving community in cyberspace is now just a shell of it’s former self. The community deserves another free-ware powerhouse to be developed.”

While OWLS is still within early development, the first details will be made available through the official Omega Labs website and also the PWSE website as and when they are finalized.

While no schedule has been finalized as yet, due to personal commitments, the aim is to have OWLS released by or during 3rd quarter 2012. While alpha and beta versions will be utilized there is no intention, at the time, to release these to the public.

Wrestling Mpire: Remix Released

This special “remixed” edition of Wrestling MPire 2008 is a treat for all the loyal fans still playing the game almost 4 years after it was released! It’s the most ambitious update yet - featuring a whole new page of editing options that allow you to change every detail of a wrestler’s appearance. The addition of real moving eyes injects even more personality into the action, and there’s a whole host of new faces to rub shoulders with in the expanded universe - not least those that are generated randomly to keep your career fresh! The PC’s biggest and best wrestling simulator just got bigger and better.

MDickie Games Now Open Source

For those looking to get into game programming by tinkering with an already fully functioning game, you may be pleased to know that all of Mat Dickie’s games are now open source including the recently released, Under Development.

When I was coming up, I took a lot of solace from editing existing games beyond recognition. In a bid to give that opportunity to a new generation, here I present the fully functioning source code for the many projects I created with Blitz 3D! Simply place the files in an installation of the game in question and you should have everything you need. The main file is usually named Gameplay.bb or the project’s title such as Popscene.bb. Be sure to run Blitz at the latest version to ensure the code has everything it needs to work properly. Although you are free to re-release your creations, please acknowledge that you must do so for FREE and must credit my original work (unless written permission states otherwise)…

New Releases From MDickie

Although retiring from making commercial games a number of months ago, Mat Dickie—the creator of popular 3D games such as Wrestling MPire—is seemingly back at it with the release of one freeware game as well as another one in development.

Released in October, Under Development is a 3D simulation game where you take on the role of a video game creator. Just like in real life, you must adjust to the state of the market and the increasingly sophisticated hardware all while trying receive favorable reviews and make a profit.

The game can be downloaded for free from the official website.

Mat Dickie is also working on an updated version of his latest wrestling game aptly titled, Wrestling MPire Remix in which a number of additions will be made to enhance the gameplay and graphics.
